The Brief

Olitek was developing the TyneLoader - a fully automated container loading system designed to keep human operators out of a working environment that would otherwise be a high-risk confined space. The project came to Everything Metal in its research and development phase, with detailed drawings supplied by the client. Our role was to take those drawings and produce the fabricated components for the prototype build.

Our Approach

Working from Olitek's drawings, the design was broken down into individual fabricated components and built up on the workshop floor. With the project still in R&D, the programme was structured around client testing rather than a straight-through build. Two rounds of testing were built in - giving Olitek the chance to test components in operation, identify changes, and feed adjustments back into fabrication before the prototype was signed off.

Direct communication between the workshop and the client's engineering team kept the testing rounds turning over quickly. Once the prototype was finalised, the assembly went to hot-dip galvanising for finish.
